Grouse in a pot

A crockpot that is, along with a bunch of other stuff in hopes that it'll turn out to be something chili-like when all is said and done.

Crockpot "Mexican" Grouse

4 little grouse
1/2 onion
2 cloves garlic
1 can blackbeans
Corn (about a cup or so)
Salsa (all I had left, about 1/2 cup)
Spicy tomato sauce (leftovers, about 3/4 c)
Chili powder
cumin
salt
pepper

Got home, pulled the grouse off the bones and decided it was way too bland and dry. The grouse never got tender, even with 10 hours of crockpot time.

Moved the stuff to a pan and added:
1 small can tomato paste
1 small can diced chilis
can of black beans
Lots more chili pepper, cumin, salt and pepper
Lots of water

Rating: Decent, would have been better with some other meat. The grouse was stringy and dry.

Oh, gRouse!

This sounds good, actually. It makes me miss my recipe for Mexican Lasagne. OK, it is actually Linda's recipe, but I have made it, and it's SO GOOD.

Speaking of good, Dicky and I shared the kielbasa and kraut for lunch on Sunday. Yum!
